Conversion To SatoshiPay
If you’re a regular reader you will know that I was looking into SatoshiPay as a content payment solution. I decided to go with it simply because ad revenue just wasn’t there. We’ve all seen this coming, though. Even I run an ad blocker and avoid ads as much as possible. I simply don’t think to turn it off unless a site asks me to do so. The problem with that is sites that get asked to do so are accused of begging. Well, I’m not begging. I’m charging for content.
Another solution people are looking into is the Brave browser with its ability to block or replace ads with other ads and pay website creators using bitcoin. The problem with this model, in my opinion, is that people will still choose to see ads, they’re just choosing to see a different company’s ads. Either that, or people will choose to block everything and website creators get nothing. I’m sure there will still be a few altruistic people out there that will choose to both block everything and pay site creators, but I’m guessing they’re the same people that use donations links on sites.
So, I’ve decided to make a stand and hope my content is deemed good enough for which to pay. My blog posts will always be free, since they are just updates to the site and my rambling. I’ve left all the links on my Get Started page, as well as a few reviews, free and ad supported. Everything else is pay to read. I’m currently charging roughly $0.05 per article, but this may change in time. If you find any ads on pages you pay for, please notify me immediately. This is a mistake and I need to correct it as soon as possible.
